Drummer, and lead vocalist Darren Weiss teamed up with bassist/songwriter Danny Presant in 2008 and began musical genius. Brothers Joe (Frontman) and Sebastian (Drummer) Keefe began their indie-rock trio in 2009, adding guitarist Jamesy Buckey to the mix. Their upbeat sound of their song “St. Croix” has given it occasional plays on alternative radio stations. Their list of artists that they’ve performed with is commendable, including Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros and Mumford and Sons, and is an indicator that they aren’t going away any time soon.
Originally a songwriter, Laura Pergolizzi (L.P.) got her real break in the music industry by writing multiple hits for famous artists such as Rihanna and Christina Aguilera. However, her musical talents don’t stop at song writing. It’s her unique voice and her wide vocal range that really bring her lyrics to life. SONGS TO CHECK OUT: Into the Wild, Tokyo Sunrise, Someday

Hrishikesh Hirway: the band’s composer, song-writer, vocalist—whatever it is, you name it. He pretty much runs everything on his own, but whatever he’s doing is paying off. His soothing vocals overlay his electronic but catchy beats that leave the listener feeling at ease, and unable to turn it off. This primarily one-man band has a sound that is unique to the music scene, which has appeared in multiple episodes of the hit TV show “Chuck”.

You may have heard one of their songs in some random commercial, late at night on the radio, or even seen them as the openers for another band. It just goes to show that through refusing to conform to the ‘top 40’ tune of popular music, they’ve managed to stay true to their talents, and have henceforth created musical genius. Here are some bands that don’t get nearly as much recognition as they deserve.
